A Celebration of Autumn, Community & All Things Gourdy — Rain and All
On Sunday 19th October the farm was filled with that unmistakable autumn feeling—drizzly skies, waterproofs rustling, and families splashing cheerfully through puddles. Despite (or perhaps because of!) the rain, our annual Squash Harvest Day was wonderfully cosy and full of seasonal spirit.
Pick-Your-Own Squash: Muddy Boots, Happy Faces
The rain didn’t deter a single adventurer. Families headed straight into the patch, wellies squelching as they hunted for the perfect squash. Children embraced the mud with enthusiasm, proudly lugging gourds almost as big as themselves, while adults compared shapes, colours, and cooking plans under dripping hoods.

Tractor-Trailer Tours
Our tractor-trailer tours were the perfect break from the drizzle. Everyone piled onto the trailer, huddled under the canopy, and enjoyed a cosy ride around the farm.

Lori’s Squash Chocolate Truffle Workshop & ‘Guess the Squash’ Competition
Lori’s workshop was a welcome indoor retreat. Families rolled their squash chocolate truffles while rain pattered softly against the barn roof. Lori brought with her a diverse selection of her home-grown squash. Families had a chance to win Lori's Cookbook: Passionate about Pumpkins, Squashes & Courgettes by guessing different varieties of squash!

A Day of Mud, Laughter & Autumn Magic
By the afternoon, cheeks were rosy, boots were muddy, and spirits were high. The rain might have soaked the fields, but it didn’t dampen the joy of the day. If anything, it made the farm feel even more alive—with families embracing the weather and turning it into part of the adventure.
Thank you to everyone who braved the rain to join us.
