3 positions available to work with us at Shillingford Organics - April - October 2018

Shillingford Organics is a commercial organic vegetable, salad, fruit and herb enterprise.  We grow 45 acres of vegetables, selling through our Vegetable Box Scheme and Exeter Farmers Market, as well as supplying local retail outlets.
 
We also have an extensive range of polytunnels and protected cropping areas, enabling us to produce crops 52 weeks of the year. This includes a no dig area and an area set up in an agro-forestry system.
 

2 x Seasonal Grower with Experience, April - October 2018

We are looking for two hard-working, enthusiastic seasonal growers with experience who can work at commercial speeds.  You will join our growing team for seven months from April till October and will be involved in all aspects of growing a diverse range of crops. This includes sowing, cultivation, transplanting, harvesting and assisting at our Farmers Market stall, as well as some responsibility for delivery driving.
 
These positions are suitable for people with previous experience of growing. Tractor experience would be beneficial.
 
Wages are £8.25 per hour.  Working hours are 32 hours per week, ideally Mon-Thurs, with possible additional hours on a Friday during the busy summer months.

1 x Trainee Seasonal Grower, April - October 2018

We are looking for a hard-working, enthusiastic seasonal grower who can work at commercial speeds.  You will join our team for seven months from April till October. We will offer experience in all aspects of growing a diverse range of crops.  This includes sowing, cultivation, transplanting, organic crop husbandry, harvesting and marketing.  

This is a great learning opportunity and would be an ideal experience to run alongside a training scheme such as the Soil Association ‘Future growers Scheme’. https://www.soilassociation.org/farmers-growers/supporting-you/future-growers/

Wages are at the minimum wage.  Working hours are 32 hours per week with possible additional hours.

We can provide basic, but clean and tidy, on site accommodation and kitchen facilities for a small rent.
